One the big issues facing every bettor is how to place a horse’s past performances into the context of today’s race. In the case of Rachel Alexandra in the Preakness we were faced with a dominating filly in a field of some good male horses, many of whom had run just as fast against better competition.

But Rachel Alexandra had such dominating speed and pace numbers that StretchRun easily flagged her as the one to bet. The program places all of a horse’s speed and pace numbers in the context of all the other horses in the race for easy comparison.
